ADG provides master planning and development on Chicksaw Nation’s $300 million resort

A $300 million resort, including a water park, retail, dining and hotel, is set to be built by the Chickasaw Nation along the Oklahoma River in southeast Oklahoma City (OK).   The development, which features a First American’s museum and cultural centre, opened last month and construction on the hotel/indoor waterpark is set to start in summer 2022 with an opening in 2024.  The OKANA Resort & Indoor Waterpark is being designed by Wisconsin-based ADCI and developed by New York-based Aquatic Development Group, and is expected to be a world-class tourism destination.

ADG, the nation’s leading waterpark design builder, was brought on board to not only to design both the indoor water park and the outdoor adventure lagoon and activity pools, but to contribute throughout the master planning and design process for the entire resort, providing valuable insight based on years of similar experience.

The 400+ room hotel will be built around a 107,000sf two-story indoor waterpark that will feature a wave pool, action rivers, multiple pools and sides, and will be surrounded by a five-acre outdoor adventure lagoon that will be built at the centre of the property and will include one main body of water and two smaller bodies of water, all lined with sandy beaches.

The resort also will feature a 33,000-square-foot family entertainment centre, a 39,000-square-foot conference centre with two ballrooms, a spa, a golf simulator, and a retail centre featuring boutique shops and restaurants.
