This year has marked an extraordinary period for Vekoma on a global scale, characterized by an impressive array of projects they have undertaken. They have successfully installed numerous new attractions, showcasing a remarkable variety that includes both family-friendly rides and high-thrill roller coasters. Notably, the family coasters ‘Snoopy’s Soap Box Racers’ at Kings Island, ‘Midnight Flyer’ at Santa’s Village in Jefferson (NH), and ‘Good Gravy!’ at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari represent the first of their kind to debut in the United States. In Poland, Energylandia has introduced the Mine Train ‘Choco Chip Creek’ and the Kalypso Family Coaster ‘Honey Harbour’ within the newly developed Sweet Valley area. Additionally, Emerald Park in Ireland has launched the Suspended Thrill Coaster ‘Na Fianna Force’ and the Family Boomerang ‘The Quest,’ which features an intertwined design.
At present, two projects are underway in Australia, set to welcome visitors by the end of the year. Warner Bros. Movie World Australia is preparing to unveil its Wizard of Oz precinct, which will include a Suspended Family Coaster named ‘Flight of the Wicked Witch’ and a Family Boomerang Racer called ‘Kansas Twister.’ This innovative combination of the Family Boomerang Racer and the Suspended Family Coaster offers a distinctive array of ride experiences that have not been previously encountered worldwide. It seamlessly merges two entirely different ride experiences: a family-oriented suspended coaster that provides an unobstructed flying sensation and high speed, alongside a racing shuttle coaster experience that features both forward and backward runs, as well as various crossing and dueling effects, appealing to both families and thrill-seekers alike.
Dreamworld, located on the Gold Coast in Australia, is set to unveil the world’s inaugural Switchback Coaster, named ‘Jungle Rush,’ within its new Rivertown area. This family-oriented thrill ride will be the first of its kind, featuring a design that accommodates various cycle paths, including the world’s first inclined turntable, thereby providing an engaging adventure for guests of all ages. The coaster will boast 12 airtime elements, dedicated show moments, and the unique capability to operate both forwards and backwards.
Looking forward to 2025, Vekoma anticipates a remarkable year with numerous projects launching globally. Among these are thrilling coasters such as the Tilt Coaster ‘Circuit Breaker’ at Cotaland and ‘Siren’s Curse’ at Cedar Point, which will soon welcome visitors.
In Saudi Arabia, the world’s tallest Tilt Coaster, ‘Iron Rattler,’ is under construction at Six Flags Qiddiya City. This exhilarating ride will allow guests to teeter on the edge and gaze into the depths below, promising an adrenaline-pumping experience. With speeds reaching 118 km/h and a minimum height requirement of 120 cm, riders will ascend over 60 meters and tilt from a horizontal to a vertical position at 90 degrees. Prepare for a thrilling drop! The coaster features a total track length of 1,240 meters, incorporating modern thrill elements such as camelbacks, a full-speed double Zero-G roll, carousel turns, and an impressive five inversions along with 12 airtime moments. It promises to deliver a breathtaking roller coaster experience, unmatched by any other in the world.
Additionally, North America will see the debut of its first Super Boomerang, ‘The Flash: Vertical Velocity,’ at Six Flags Great Adventure, while a Family Boomerang Rebound named ‘ShootOut’ will open at Oasis at the Lake of Ozarks. In Canada, Santa’s Village will introduce a custom-designed Family Coaster called ‘Yeti Trek,’ and a Suspended Family Coaster, ‘Serpentikha,’ is set to launch at Aztlán Parque Urbano in Mexico.
In Europe, the new indoor theme park Bommelwereld will debut the indoor Family Coaster ‘Bulder Baan.’ Additionally, the Kalypso Family Coaster ‘Wild West Coaster’ will be launched at Winnoland in France, providing thrilling experiences for families, including those with first-time riders. The Polish theme park Mandoria is set to introduce an indoor Family Launch Coaster named ‘Aquila,’ which boasts an impressive launch speed of up to 70 km/h. This 450-meter attraction features a double pass with a second launch mid-ride, resulting in a total experience of 900 meters for families. Notably, the 95 cm height requirement for riders is the lowest globally for this type of Family Launch Coaster, achieving acceleration from 0 to 70 km/h in just three seconds.
VidantaWorld’s BON Luxury Theme Park
At the IAAPA Expo in Orlando, VidantaWorld has announced further details regarding the upcoming BON Luxury Theme Park, set to open in 2026 in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico. This luxurious theme park will feature five distinct rides designed by Vekoma. Guests can look forward to the family-friendly attractions, including the Horus Family Coaster ‘Izari’s Flight’, the Suspended Family Coaster ‘Speed of Light’, and the Switchback Coaster ‘Ashara – Goddess of Fire’, along with the new water ride, ‘Toco Tambo Falls’. For those seeking an exhilarating experience, BON Luxury Theme Park will present Latin America’s only Double Launch Coaster, ‘Tecuani Beast’. This ride promises an intense and adrenaline-fueled adventure, boasting 20 unique track elements, including a world-first Double Roll-Over Tophat, over 16 seconds of airtime, and six inversions. With a total track length of 1,200 meters and a maximum speed of 105 km/h, it will be the longest and fastest Launch Coaster in Latin America. Visitors can expect a thrilling and extraordinary experience, enhanced by immersive theming and the surrounding lush natural landscape. During the press conference at Vekoma’s booth, the intricately themed front coach of ‘Tecuani Beast’ was unveiled, accompanied by an animated video presentation.
