Walt Disney World and other theme parks in Orlando, Florida, resumed operations on Friday following temporary closures due to Hurricane Milton, which affected the area on Wednesday and Thursday.
Disney World announced that its theme parks and the Disney Springs shopping district were fully operational on Friday, adhering to their regular schedules.
“We are thankful that Walt Disney World Resort has successfully navigated the storm. The theme parks and Disney Springs will reopen on Friday, October 11, during the planned operating hours. Our thoughts are with our fellow Floridians who have been affected by this storm”
Stated Disney World in a message posted on its website Thursday afternoon. Certain areas of the theme park opened as early as 7:30 a.m. on Friday.
Additionally, Disney indicated that guests who were unable to use their tickets due to the park’s closure on Thursday would receive an extension valid until October 11, 2025. Universal Orlando and SeaWorld Orlando also resumed their operations on Friday. Flights at Orlando International Airport were canceled on Wednesday, but services resumed on Thursday and Friday. Hurricane Milton struck Florida after making landfall on Wednesday, resulting in at least 16 reported fatalities.
