Time line of Wallace and Gromit-
Wallace and Gromit was created by a student, Nick Park at the National Film and Television School. After animation a few characters, making sketches, and writing short stories- these Wallace and Gromit characters began to take shape!
After spending three weeks at Elstree Film Studios, and observing how special effects were created, Nick began to gather some initial thought and ideas of a short story, about ‘a man who builds a rocket in his basement and flies to the moon to stock up on his supplies of cheese.’
1989- A Grand Day Out
The short film was finally finished, and broadcasted on Channel 4, on Christmas Eve, 1990- 6 years after production had began.
The iconic, unique voice of Wallace was played by Peter Sallis, who had helped Nick out during his time as a student.
December 1993- The Wrong Trousers
October 2002- Cracking Contraptions
November 2010- Christmas Stamps
Wallace and Gromit were created on 600 million Christmas stamps in the UK!
June 2017- Saying goodbye to Peter Sallis
In June 2017, we said goodbye to the actor Peter Sallis, the voice of Wallace. Peter was praised by millions of fans all over the world and his unique, distinctive voice brought Nick Park’s creation of Wallace to life.
2021- The Big Fix Up
The Big Fix Up brought fans together, to take part in the first ever interactive experience, stepping into a real-time story to interact with the characters.
